A tidy entrance starts with the right shoe rack
In most Indian homes, shoes come off at the door, and in a family of four that quickly means a dozen pairs or more piled at the entrance. A shoe rack sized for your family keeps the entrance clear and the dust out of the house.

Sizing a shoe rack
- Plan about 25–30 cm of shelf width per pair of adult shoes.
- Shelf depth of 30–35 cm suits most shoes; tilted shelves save depth.
- Leave one taller shelf for boots and sandals with heels.
- A cushioned seat on top makes putting on shoes easier, especially for elders.
