A pooja mandir for every home

Not every apartment has space for a separate pooja room, so a wooden mandir often becomes the spiritual centre of the home. A well-made mandir gives the deities a dignified place, stores pooja items neatly and fits the space available, whether that's a corner of the living room, a niche or a wall in the kitchen.

Types of pooja mandir

Things to consider

ConsiderationWhy it matters
Deity sizeMeasure your idols and frames so the shelf height and depth fit them
DoorsJaali (cut-work) doors let the deities be seen and let smoke escape
StorageDrawers for incense, matches and pooja books; cabinets for larger items
VentilationLamps and incense need airflow; a jaali or open top helps
HeightDeities are usually placed at or above chest height when standing

Direction and vastu

Traditionally the mandir is placed in the north-east of the home, with the deities facing east or west, and not directly against a bathroom wall. Families follow their own customs, and we make mandirs to suit the place you've chosen.

Wood and finish

Teak and other hardwoods are traditional and long-lasting; carved motifs such as bells, lotuses and swastiks are made in our workshop. Lamps and incense darken finishes over time, and a re-polish brings back the shine.
