Seating for receptions and waiting areas
Waiting chairs, often called beam or airport seating, are two, three or four seats linked on a single steel beam. They're the practical choice for clinics, hospitals, banks, showrooms, salons, offices and institutions because they're strong, easy to clean and keep waiting areas neat.
Options
- Perforated steel seats: very durable, easy to clean, ideal for heavy use.
- Cushioned seats: padded leatherette or fabric for more comfort.
- Moulded plastic seats: lightweight and economical.
- Arms between seats: help people sit down and stand up, and define personal space.
Planning a waiting area
Count peak waiting numbers, not average. Allow about 60 cm per seat along walls and keep clear walkways. Leave space for wheelchairs and prams. Add a small table for magazines or a water dispenser.
