Choosing a TV unit
A TV unit does more than hold the TV. It hides set-top boxes, routers and cables, stores remotes and games, and is often the focal wall of the living room. Getting the width, height and storage right matters more than the style.
Size guide
| TV size | Suggested unit width |
|---|---|
| 32–43 in | 120–150 cm |
| 50–55 in | 165–195 cm |
| 65 in and up | 210 cm and wider |
The centre of the screen should be at roughly eye level when you're seated, about 100–110 cm from the floor for most sofas. Wall-mounted TVs over a low console achieve this easily.
Styles
- Wall panel TV units: a full-height back panel with a low cabinet and side shelves, like our wall-panel unit. It hides cables behind the panel.
- Low consoles: simple and modern, good for wall-mounted TVs.
- Floor-to-ceiling units: combine TV, display shelves and closed storage on one wall.
- Floating units: wall-mounted cabinets that leave the floor clear.
Practical details
- Plan cable cut-outs and a hidden channel from the TV to the cabinet.
- Leave ventilation for set-top boxes and routers in closed cabinets.
- Check where the power points are before finalising the design.
- Wall mounting needs fixings suited to your wall. Our installation team handles this.

FAQ
TV Units & Cabinets: your questions
What size TV unit do I need?
The unit should be at least as wide as the TV, ideally 1.5x wider. For a 55-inch TV, a 6-7 ft unit looks balanced.
