Chairs fail at the joints

Every time someone leans back on a chair, the joints between legs, rails and seat are levered apart. After a few years the glue lets go and the chair wobbles; if it's ignored, a rail or leg cracks. Dining chairs, study chairs and wooden armchairs all follow the same pattern, and all can usually be saved.

Chair repairs we do

• Wobbly chairs: joints taken apart, cleaned and re-glued under clamps, so they are tight again, not just tightened with nails.
• Broken legs and rails: repaired, or replaced with matching new parts made in our workshop.
• Seats: new plywood seat boards, new foam and fabric. See upholstery.
• Cane and nawar seats: re-weaving worn cane or strap seats.
• Finish: scratches and worn polish refreshed. See polishing.

Repair a full set
