What decides the price of a diwan
- Wood. Solid teak costs the most and lasts the longest. Babool and other hardwoods cost less. Engineered wood with a teak-colour finish is the budget option.

- Storage. Drawers or a lift-up top add material and hardware.
- Design. Carved legs, turned posts and decorative panels add craftsmanship.
- Finish. PU polish costs more than melamine but resists wear better.
- Mattress and bolsters. Often priced separately; check what's included.
When comparing quotes, ask whether the price includes the mattress and bolsters, and ask for the wood to be named on the bill: "teak wood" and "teak finish" are not the same thing.
